Who are we?

The Cambridge Zero Carbon Society began in 2007 as a group of students, scientists, economists, and professionals who were deeply concerned about climate change and its potential effects on our lives, those of our children, and the natural world – on local and global scales.

Re-launched in 2015, the society has continued with its pursuit to engage students – and members of the local community – with the climate crisis, and what we can do about it. Inspired by the global movement towards divestment, we launched our own campaign in October 2015, calling on the University of Cambridge to completely divest from the fossil fuel industry. As students at this prestigious institution, we can and must make our university Fossil Free; by doing so, we can further accelerate the movement towards divestment and tackling the climate crisis.

The society holds weekly campaigns meetings, on Saturdays at Magdalene bar – check out our Facebook page for more info!
